A true pioneer returns. For the first time in over 15 years, cult hero Photek returns to Bristol for a rare DJ performance, marking his first appearance in the city since headlining Pinch's legendary Subloaded event at Lakota in May 2011. Few artists have left a deeper mark on the evolution of UK electronic music. From the formative days of jungle and drum & bass, through seminal releases on Metalheadz and the genre-defining Modus Operandi, Photek has spent three decades operating at the outer limits of electronic music. A sonic scientist with an uncompromising approach, his productions are defined by sound design innovation, precision and atmosphere that helped reshape the possibilities of jungle and drum & bass in the early-mid 1990s. Other monikers utilised to release Photek's productions include The Sentinel, Studio Pressure, Special Forces, Aquarius and Code of Practice Joining him is another cornerstone of the jungle drum & bass disaspora:Total Science, delivering a 2 Hour30 Years of C.I.A Recordsset alongside Rupture's MC Blackeye. From the deeper, more intricate side of jungle and hardcore, through to rolling dancefloor pressure, Total Science have remained fiercely committed to quality and innovation. This 30-year journey through C.I.A.'s catalogue will be a celebration of a label that has helped shape the sound of drum & bass across generations.
