Not A Phase is a group art show celebrating the iconic imagery, the epic highs and lows of emo culture from the late 2000s to the mid-2010s. With the birth of MySpace, LiveJournal, and AOL, emo became more than just music: it was a means for self-discovery during our formative years. The show reworks the dark, brooding stereotypes of emo with a hyper-saturated palette - suggesting how the awkward, anxious, and sulky teenager in us still persists within an older, supposedly more refined, version of ourselves. The art show will feature three live music performances by A Weekend at Ramona’s, Slow Decay, and Triton. A Weekend at Ramona’s starts off indie, with tight melodies and catchy choruses, and unravels it on stage into a hypnotic avant garde experience. With their blend of different musical perspectives and influences, they have developed a truly immersive performance style that has to be witnessed live.
