This project is a reaction to a visceral disturbance in witnessing seemingly endless imagery of some of the world’s most vulnerable and voiceless children being routinely killed, and the growing passivity, the creeping numbness to this type of extreme violent imagery. The project’s loose outline was to respond to this sense of lurid voyeurism. Cameras, filming, face recognition, eyes, CCTV, drones, helicopter footage, optics, windows, lenses, data profiles, selfies & surveillance were all discussed and considered in the making of both the audio tracks and artworks / visualisers. The project’s name VIGIL comes from a blurred appreciation of multiple associations, a nod towards watching over someone at their bedside in times of illness, gatherings in memorial, carrying the candle. Doors 18:00 / Performances 18:30–22:00 For those with the means, tickets with a +£5 donation to GASCF are also available.
