It’s that time of the year again as Community hosts the annual Mancunian bday tribute event ‘ REMEMBA FELA on Sat Oct 10th 9pm - 2am at Niamos. Celebrating the music life of FELA KUTI and his his wholly unique AFROBEAT sound ( not to be confused with Burna Boy AFROBEATS ). DJ Irfan Rainy first started this annual tribute party in 1998, 28 years ago and no DJ has done more to keep Afrobeat alive in the city, it’s an incredible legacy. The party became Felabration Mcr but the trademarking of the name and it’s massive cost to use made Irfan return to using his original Rememba Fela name. For this year we have very special guests the HANDSON FAMILY fspinning the tunes. They are much loved community organisers in Brixton and South London showcasing rootsy black music for the heads. This is first DJ set in Manchester but you will know them their participation annually at We Out Here Festival, comparing the main stage or deejaying at various stages. As always we party to Fela’s classic songs as well as music from all parts of the African diaspora to support Pan Africanism.
