We’re bringing Brazil to San Diego for our biggest baile funk party yet. Headlining the night is KARAN!, coming in from Brazil with a sound rooted in funk, mandelão and Favela Bass. Known for pushing Brazilian funk into heavier and more experimental club territory, KARAN! has released music across some of electronic music’s most respected labels and built a sound centered around impact, movement and unmistakably Brazilian energy. Joining him from San Francisco is renowned selector QUEENIE, the DJ and curator behind Mostly Cloudy, one of SF’s most exciting platforms for baile funk, bass and forward-thinking club music. Her sets move freely across Brazilian funk, ghetto tech, Miami bass, house and beyond, built first and foremost for the dancefloor. Rounding out the lineup is our resident curator B.Joyce, the driving force behind the BAILE F**K series and a selector whose sets move through baile funk, electro, club and hip-hop. Across each edition, she has helped shape the series into a space for adventurous dance music, new artists and sounds that have yet to find a regular home in San Diego. We’re also opening up the first slot of the night through an OPENER DJ CONTEST — giving one artist the chance to join the lineup and open the party. Full contest details will be announced on Instagram. October 18 marks the fifth edition of our monthly series, and we’re making this one our biggest yet. We’re taking over EQ for a celebration of Brazilian funk, bass and club music, bringing international sounds together with San Diego’s growing dance community. This is shaping up to be a special one, so we recommend locking in tickets early before the room fills up. Our mission is to spark music discovery and cultivate joy through the shared celebration of dance.
