Baba Yaga's Hut present: Yuko Araki at The Horse Hospital, April 13th Japanese sound artist Yuko Araki’s music integrates extreme noise into composed music structures. After a decade of performances between Asia, Europe and Canada, V (American Dreams, 2027), the sixth album in her numbered series, hones her work to its sharpest edge yet. Araki forces precise digital sound designs through unpredictable modular systems, deconstructing the results and rebuilding them into piercing metallic textures. V recalls, and lives somewhere between, both dance music and danger music. Araki’s touring (which The Wire has called “fierce as fuck”) has seen her carve a niche of intense, physical, full-body experiences with intentional audiovisual collaborations. Highlights include performances at Cafe OTO (London), MUTEK (Tokyo), Shipwreck (Toronto), Alice (Copenhagen), Jogja Noise Bombing Festival (Yogyakarta), and over a hundred tour dates spanning Japan, the UK, continental Europe, Indonesia and China.
