William Basinski is a classically trained musician and composer who has been working in experimental media for over 40 years in NYC and Los Angeles. Employing obsolete technology and analogue tape loops, his haunting and melancholy soundscapes explore the temporal nature of life and resound with the reverberations of memory and the mystery of time. He presents the live performance of his first album in six years, *Passing the Cup of Sorrows*, a haunting solo piano composition paired with subtle electronics. muein is a sculptor, curator, writer, and teacher whose interests center on software obsolescence, mass-communication technologies, and intuition-based systems of play. Using a combination of wave terrain synthesis, pulsar synthesis, and granular freezing, muein seeks to uncover the natural within the artificial, attempting to play electronic signals as if they were acoustic instruments. Drawing from their past as an architectural experience designer, Bri believes sound is a melding force that, when guided, can fully engulf increasingly fractured environments. DURATIONS Festival is a week-long, multi-disciplinary exploration of sound and connection. Now in its fifth iteration, the festival’s programming is its most robust yet, with seven days of music, talks, audiovisual work taking place between Public Records, Pioneer Works, Roulette, and Whitney Museum of American Art. \- Public Records aims to provide a safer space.
