Halifax's 3rd Goth Festival presents Skeletal Family with support from Redemption Zero. A leading force in the UK’s Indie/Alternative scene of the early-mid ’80s, Skeletal Family rose to prominence with their debut album Burning Oil, which topped the UK Indie Charts for three weeks in 1984—beating contemporaries like The Smiths, New Order, and The Cult. They recorded seven BBC Radio One sessions for John Peel, Janice Long, and David “Kid” Jensen before disbanding in 1987. Revived in 2002 by original members Stan Greenwood, Roger “Trotwood” Nowell, and Ian “Karl Heinz” Taylor (founders of pre-Skeletal Family project The Elements), the band released Sakura, Songs of Love, Hope & Despair, and Day of All Days. During the pandemic, with vocalist Anneka Latta and drummer Adrian “Ozzy” Osadzenko, they wrote and recorded 19 tracks at Paul Weller’s Black Barn Studios. Their sixth studio album, Light From The Dark, dropped on April 22, 2023, to critical acclaim. That same year, Skeletal Family headlined Leipzig’s Wave Gotik Treffen and played California’s inaugural Darker Waves Festival. They continue to perform worldwide including another headline appearance at Wave Gotik Treffen and are working on new material. Redemption ZERO, which features a number of luminaries from the goth post punk scene, such as Anne Marie Hurst (Ghost Dance), Caroline Blind (Sunshine Blind), Yvette Winkler (Vaselyne), Ray Bowles (Chameleons Vox) and David Wolfenden (Red Lorry Yellow Lorry).
