Very few artists have shaped the modern sound of techno like Alarico — through his unmatched groove-driven, sweaty DJ sets and his outstanding catalogue of releases on Klockworks, Mutual Rytm, and his own imprint, Primal Instinct, just to name a few. Alarico is supported by an all-Whipped-resident lineup: Johannes Astrup on opening duties, followed by Shaan b2b Holtz for the closing. This late-September beating will definitely hit harder! Whipped is a hypnotic techno party where detail, texture, quality, and skill are at the centre of attention. This is techno in its most intoxicating form: stripped back, relentless, and finely tuned to keep you hypnotised from the first kick to the final echo. After taking the field by storm with his unconventional production ethos and aesthetics in 2021, Alarico did not sleep on his one-to-watch status - he delivered. Two releases on Mutual Rytm and another on Klockworks propelled his expedition around the world and cemented him as an inherent part of what Techno sounds like in the mid 2020s. His sets resemble the raw and somewhat wild nature of his productions. Slick minimalism meets gritty textures, grime goes hand in hand with intricacy to create an organized chaos. Faders are flicked back and forth while meticulous work on the equalizer glues it all together. Alarico's sets are an ode to the forefathers of early hiphop, just in a very different musical realm and context. JOHANNES ASTRUP With a sharp sense of groove and vibe, Copenhagen-based DJ and producer Johannes Astrup has built a reputation as a versatile and reliable selector. Navigating between cheeky, vocal-layered hardgroove and hypnotizing old-school techno filled with haunting loops, Johannes’ sets are always evolving, dynamically adapting and guaranteed to move the floor. As a producer, Johannes Astrup has released a string of well-received records on respected labels including Mord, Drawner Records, MZR, and PRX Records, among others. Several of his tracks have received widespread support, most notably “Salsa Lessons,” which has been played by techno heavyweights Marcel Dettmann and Ben Klock.
