Wedge presents Brat Star performing her debut album Southern Ontario Gothic live, front to back. Montreal-raised and Toronto-based, Brat Star spent years in Berlin’s experimental club scene before turning her focus to songwriting. She’s since worked with Loukeman, Dyltwosix, Isabella Lovestory and Woesum, supported Mechatok and Fred again.., and been featured in Pitchfork, Highsnobiety and DORK. Her single “Margot Tenenbaum” inspired Paloma Wool’s SS27 runway show in Paris. Southern Ontario Gothic named after the literary tradition of Alice Munro and Robertson Davies, Southern Ontario Gothic is a collection of vignettes drawn from everyday life, each song written like a first-person essay with its own character. Entirely self-written and largely self-produced, with help from Loukeman, Ian Mills and Luke Graves, the record is a love letter to Toronto that pulls from Drake, Shania Twain and Emily Haines in equal measure.
