UNPLUG! + The Foundry present: A free tribute party to the Originator, the Godfather of Detroit Techno, Juan Atkins. Doors 8pm. Free with RSVP. 21+. The dance community lost a legend, a pioneer, an innovator, and the creator of a movement that changed the world. Juan Atkins, aka Model 500 and Infiniti, member of The Belleville Three and Cybotron, and the godfather of Detroit Techno will forever be missed, and we wanted to pay our respects by throwing a free party in tribute to his legacy. Whether you are an OG who has listened to him and the Detroit Techno/Electro sound for decades, or you're a younger music lover who wants an education on the history of this sound, we ask you to join us in a night dedicated to his memory. Come dance with us to DJs who will be spinning all of Juan Atkins' music, alongside all of his aliases, side projects, and groups. Also expect to hear music from associated acts, similar artists from that era, as well as modern artists who were inspired by him. You'll hear Juan Atkins, Model 500, Infiniti, Cybotron, Derrick May, Rhythm Is Rhythm, Kevin Saunderson, Drexciya, Dopplereffekt, Aux 88, Kraftwerk, Egyptian Lover, and so many more.
