Grand Ancestor Sound System Sound Engineering & Installation by Beltway Audio Group Lights by Artemis __________________________________ SEQUENCE returns to the District for one night to celebrate 10 years of renegade techno. SEQUENCE began in the humid months of 2016 when a few dedicated techno DJs decided to put a techno scene where they live: DC. The SEQUENCE party series built friendships, relationships, and even new collectives in its wake. From the basements to industrial kitchens, SEQUENCE became a needed respite to the stresses of the nation’s capital, almost always featuring the Grand Ancestor Presidential Sound System and internationally known talent. Even if the original organizers did not realize it, the imprint from SEQUENCE would last long after its active era ending in 2020. Ten years later, the original SEQUENCE organizers have reunited to commemorate this special anniversary with artists from the halcyon days along with new faces. If we celebrate as before, we will provide that next level sonic experience, safely within our own non-existence. These curious techno fans are who SEQUENCE wants to reach and engage. SEQUENCE started as a DIY party and sees that same spirit live on in the new generation of collectives, organizers, DJs, and ravers. The parties that continue to thrive are rooted in the impulse that SEQUENCE started. The root remains in expending energy through music. SEQUENCE did not start the all-night techno party and luckily did not end it either. We carried a tradition that caught on with those who understood this culture. On the night of October 24, 2026, somewhere in DC, we invite anyone and everyone to experience this culture as SEQUENCE intended. The experience begins in room one with a key figure in the global techno scene: Perc (aka Ali Wells). Perc and his label, Perc Trax, helped define an era of techno characterized by grit, political frustration, experimentation, and a hard-edged industrial sound. To the avid hardcore techno fan, just the sound of his name implies something intelligent and relentlessly physical: devastating effective subbass, piercing hi-hats, and intense transformative repetition as no other human could produce. His sound is brutal. It is punishing, while avoiding the cliché “hard techno” formula. His uncompromising commitment to forward-thinking techno is a natural choice to return to SEQUENCE and our dark, sweaty dancefloor. Surrounding Perc in room one is a cadre of SEQUENCE residents: Juana, Damon Bradley, and Ron Jackson. This trio are true techno lifers, if not ambassadors, wherever on the earth they may be playing or visiting. SEQUENCE dance floors would not be possible without support acts who represent our faithful supporters and the next generation carrying the scene forward. Chosen for their contributions to the scene and their ability to tell a story through their immersive, hypnotic DJ sets, we felt these artists carry the same spirit that SEQUENCE always championed for. For the main room, we will feature upcoming DC-based artist, Jade Cao of Heaven Dancing Club. Joining her from Philadelphia is queer underground party founder and organizer of El Bait Baitkum, Has.san. “El bait baitkum” is an Arabic expression meaning “The house is your house”. To Jade Cao, Has.san, and dancefloor warriors: البيت بيتكم. In room two, we will digress slightly. We will build and then release, inhale the Associate and Ecobeat ranger, DJ Dubu. Then exhale first with a special “Hi-Tek Jazz” set presented by an electronic jazz trio including Yasha and Theta Flux. After the performance, we bring Scotia, who recently leveled the festival stages at Honcho and amazed the techno purists in Detroit during Movement Weekend. Once you scoop your jaw off the floor from that 2 hour joyful explosion you start to wonder when the release is coming from the build. At last, the release happens deep in the night when we happily present Chelle to carry us into the new day. Two rooms will cascade across a sonic palette. Room one will increase intensity steadily over 8 hours to near breakneck speed. Room two begins as a journey through time and space. Thereafter, intergalactic jazz and lysergic rhythms will likely combine in a blissful reprieve from room one’s thunderstorm. The result might be the most complete SEQUENCE experience yet and even if your Sunday is ruined, you know these SEQUENCE DJs made your day. __________________________________ Absolutely zero tolerance for sexism, racism, homophobia, transphobia, unsolicited touching, leering, or any other oppressive behavior.
