The Hot Town Stompers bring the timeless sounds of New Orleans and Early Swing into a full 21st-century stomp. This hot five, consisting of reeds, trumpet, trombone, guitar/banjo and bass, looks forward to bringing their show ‘The Spirit of Swing and the Sounds of New Orleans’ to Morroco Bound. Having each spent time in New Orleans, each musician shares a passion for the raw, unfiltered sounds of early jazz, blues, ragtime and jug band music. Inspired by legends of this style such as Louis Armstrong, King Oliver and Sidney Bechet, as well as the great dance bands of the early 1920s, they celebrate this repertoire whilst bringing fresh life to the music. Born on the Isle of Wight, Sol Grimshaw is fast becoming one of the UK’s rising young talents in these styles. Having lived in London since the age of 14, his music has taken him all over the world. He looks forward to bringing some of the leading players in this tradition back home for this special concert.
