Kiku Room welcomes Tokyo-based DJ and producer Que Sakamoto, one of Japan’s more adventurous underground selectors, for a night of psychedelic rhythms, cosmic disco, and leftfield dance floor exploration. A true musical nomad, Sakamoto has taken his unmistakable sound across more than 22 countries, with appearances at Berlin’s legendary Panorama Bar, Japan’s Fuji Rock Festival, Garbicz Festival in Poland, São Paulo’s Mamba Negra, and Australia’s Subsonic Festival. His productions and musical associations span respected imprints including Hivern Discs, Ombra International, Throne of Blood, Siamese Twins, and fabric Records. His acclaimed 2019 collaboration with NT, “Minimüzikhol,” fused Japanese and Turkish electronic influences, earning international club and radio support. Beyond the studio, Sakamoto has shared his selections through NTS, Rinse FM, Beats in Space, The Lot Radio, and Red Light Radio, while hosting his own program on Mutant Radio. Drawing inspiration from Japan’s musical underground of the 1970s through the 1990s, his sets move freely between obscure disco, dub, psychedelic rock, garage, breakbeat, and hypnotic electronics. Unpredictable by design, his approach is rooted in curiosity, experimentation, and an instinct for taking the dance floor somewhere unexpected.
