MARGOT — The Villain: First Listen + Live Performance Ekler presents an exclusive first listen of MARGOT’s forthcoming album The Villain, followed by an intimate live performance. MARGOT has spent her life moving between musical worlds. Born in North Florida, she began studying violin at four and spent her first fifteen years immersed almost exclusively in classical music. At 19, she moved to New York, where Radiohead, Björk and Sigur Rós expanded her sense of what the instrument could become. She went on to work with artists including Beyoncé, Lady Gaga and St. Vincent, while developing her own voice as a composer and producer. In 2020, a chance meeting with Colombian pianist and composer Juan Villacrez led to their first collaboration, The Apartment on Third Street, an Amazon Music Original built around reinterpretations of classical works. After the pandemic, the two retreated to rural Vermont, turning an old barn into a studio where The Villain began to take shape. Against a backdrop of profound personal change and loss, the new body of work gradually revealed itself. Recorded live in Bogotá and Medellín, The Villain unfolds across ten movements, transforming inner upheaval into something cinematic. Made with minimal takes, the album moves through desire, fear, loss and transformation, held together by MARGOT’s singular violin playing: intimate, visceral and constantly evolving.
