Always ASK for consent before touching anyone. Consent is a mutual, clear, and voluntary agreement to engage in activity with another person. It must be communicated without pressure, manipulation, or fear, and everyone involved must be capable of giving it. Consent is an ongoing, active process that must be freely given each time, and a past or current relationship does not imply consent for future acts. 2. If someone is violating your boundaries or harassing you, please speak to any safety monitor/guardian. There will be two Guardians on each floor at all times. Our trained Guardians and monitors will be wearing a neon wristband to be easily identified in the space for comfort and support. 3. No phones or photography will be allowed. 4. No smoke or fire of any sort will be allowed in the space. 5. Harm reduction team and supplies available on-site. 6. There will be a medic on site for the duration of the event. 7. We have a zero-tolerance policy for harassment. If you feel something, say something, and we will help take the matter off your hands as quickly and efficiently as possible 8. Racism, sexism, ableism, ageism, fatphobia, homophobia, transphobia, or any other form of discrimination will not be tolerated. PERIOD. Security will remove you. 9. Notify the event hosts and/or guardians for additional support if any of the below occurs: - Consent violations - Anyone unconscious or unresponsive - Openly sick or unwell - Anything else you feel should be addressed immediately Know that coming into our spaces, we respect pronouns and intersectional identities so we take accountability and correct ourselves if mistakes happen - that’s that. ~~~ Personal photography will not be permitted, and we encourage you to keep your phones out of sight. If you experience any issues or if you need assistance for any reason, Monitors will be positioned throughout each floor and will be visible. This venue is wheelchair accessible, with elevators to each floor and an accessible restroom available. There will be loud noises throughout the course of the event. There will not be any haze used in the venue. Through our annual MIX FEST and year-round programming, we are committed to showing films that challenge conventional filmmaking practices, test bold ideas, and offer insight into the wide, evolving array of queer experience. MIX NYC was founded by author Sarah Schulman and filmmaker Jim Hubbard out of a need to make space for the lives and lens-based work of queer people during the onset of the AIDS epidemic. Today, we continue to provide opportunities for queer experimental filmmakers, and serve as an incubator for creativity by fostering collaboration, innovation, and dialogue amongst a community that seeks and values it. Read more about our history here. MIX is an environment that centers queer and trans experience. We will not tolerate any homophobia, transphobia, racism, misogyny, islamophobia, antisemitism, fatphobia, or discrimination or harassment of any kind. MIX stands unequivocally in solidarity with the people of Palestine.
