16th October, QUARRY is proud to present new touring commission by **Manana//Cuba**, bringing together the fractured rhythms and full frequency soundscapes of London based live electronic artist Xterea, paired with Cuban percussionist of the the eastern 'Oriente' Randy Lester, cello/effects by Life is Beautiful improviser Abi Asisa, and drums/live electronics by Pike. **ABI ASISA** electroacoustic cellist who is part of the Life Is Beautiful collective where she has worked with artists like Bianca Scout, ML Buch, Astrid Sonne and Coby Sey. **Randy Lester** is Cuban percussionist specialising in Haitian influences of far eastern Cuba (Oriente), including traditions like tumba francesa and gagá. **Pike** - An active participant in London’s underground music circuit, Pike has developed a unique rhythmic fingerprint indebted as much to UK bass music as to rock, dub and avant-garde electronics. He has collaborated with artists like Space Afrika, Charlie Osborne, Covco, The Fertile Crescent, Tiberius B - with releases on 12th Isle, Slow Dance and many others. **Xterea**\- Operating out of London, Xterea crafts raw soundscapes that meet gritty fractured rhythms. Recent works include “I’ll Call You Later,” “Headcase,” and “Guardian of Zeus” on 5 GATE TEMPLE, as well as “Like the Shadows Before Babylon” on Mindseye Records and self released “The Ghost of X.” His live performances unfold as immersive sonic rituals — full-frequency incursions that challenge perception and expand the edges of his sound. **Manana** launched as a two week residency and festival in Cuba which created a space for electronic and afro-cuban artists to explore new musical ground. Based in Santiago de Cuba, the festival explored the lesser known musical roots found in the east of the island. New residencies and commissions with artists like Space Afrika, Yussef Dayes and Pouya Ehsaei, led to Barbican takeovers, club nights and touring international acts like Ariwo. SUPPORT TBA
