✦ On November 21, 𝕋𝔼𝕄ℙ𝕃𝔼 𝕆𝔽 returns full-house (𝘼𝙣𝙠𝙖𝙡𝙞, 𝙋𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙚𝙩𝙖 𝙕𝙖, 𝙋𝙡𝙪𝙩𝙤) with a celebration of 𝙂𝙞𝙤𝙧𝙜𝙤𝙗𝙖 (გიორგობა), a Georgian tradition honouring Saint Giorgi, whose image carries echoes of ancient warrior and protector figures of the Caucasus, coming from pre-Abrahamic times. In folk traditions across West Asia, sacred warriors and protective deities have long took an important place, with some figures associated with pre-Abrahamic lunar worship. Similar figures appear across West Asian & North African mythology: 𝗩𝗮𝗵𝗮𝗴𝗻, the Armenian dragon-slayer and god of fire, 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗮, the ancient Persian embodiment of victory, 𝗧𝗲𝘀𝗵𝘂𝗯, the Hurrian god of storms and thunder, 𝗧𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘁, the ancient North African goddess of protection.... Though belonging to distinct traditions, these figures share themes of 𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵, 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 and 𝕤𝕥𝕣𝕦𝕘𝕘𝕝𝕖 𝕒𝕘𝕒𝕚𝕟𝕤𝕥 𝕕𝕖𝕤𝕥𝕣𝕦𝕔𝕥𝕚𝕧𝕖 𝕗𝕠𝕣𝕔𝕖𝕤... so very much needed today. ✦ ℙ𝕃𝕌𝕋𝕆 ✦ ✦ 𝟙𝟡:𝟘𝟘 ✦ ✦𝕋𝔼𝕄ℙ𝕃𝔼 𝕆𝔽 ℍ𝔸ℝ𝔸𝕄 𝕤𝕙𝕠𝕨 (𝔽ℝ𝔼𝔼 𝔼ℕ𝕋ℝ𝕐) ✦ A true celebration of queerness and culture opens the night with our all-immigrant queer show, bringing together local and guest performers. 𝕓𝕪 𝔽𝕚𝔽𝕚 ℙ𝕙𝕒𝕣𝕒𝕠𝕟𝕚𝕔 𝕒𝕟𝕕 𝕂𝕒𝕧𝕜𝕒𝕫 𝕎𝕚𝕕𝕠𝕨 𝔽𝕌𝕃𝕃 𝕃𝕀ℕ𝔼𝕌ℙ 𝕋𝔹𝔻 ✦ 𝔸ℕ𝕂𝔸𝕃𝕀 ✦ 𝘀𝗮𝗛𝗛𝗮𝗿 ⵣ سهّار Tunis-born and Berlin-based DJ, producer, and community organizer, who blends traditional North African and SWANA rhythms, including mezoued, raï, gnawa, chaabi, and stambeli, with modern electronic club music, bouncy techno, and house.
