YASKA "Myth to Sound. Myth to Art." Japanese Mythic Techno — Wagakki meets Techno, Ambient & Experimental Introducing the world premiere of "YASKA", an immersive art project based on the Japanese myth of Ama-no-Iwato (The Heavenly Rock Cave). The project fuses original techno, ambient, and experimental tracks, incorporating the sacred sounds of Wagakki (traditional Japanese instruments) and Gagaku (ancient court music), with the physical artistry of Kinbaku (Japanese rope art), Kabuki dance, and contemporary dance, creating an experience unlike anything before. ■ Three Core Elements of "YASKA" 1. Japanese Mythic Techno (Traditional Music × Electronic Music) Traditional Japanese soundscapes, including Gagaku, the Koto, and Norito (Shinto ritual prayers), are transformed into techno, ambient, and experimental sound. The myth unfolds as a progressive sonic journey, building from profound silence to peak time. 2. Tradition and the Avant-Garde, Emerging from the Dark Kabuki dance moving in sync with the beat, contemporary dance that unleashes primal instinct, and Kinbaku, a uniquely Japanese rope aesthetic presented as a non-sexual art form, appear out of total darkness like living geometric sculptures. Performers move freely through the crowd, turning the entire floor into their stage. 3. A Multisensory Experience A custom-blended fragrance evoking the world of Japanese mythology fills the space. Together with absolute darkness, audio-reactive visuals, and minimal lighting, it creates an environment that engages all five senses. ■ Cast & Artists [Sound] DJ: Emaki Ono (as Omoikane) Mixing & Mastering: DJ SODEYAMA Tracks: Selected through an open competition among producers from across Japan. [Physical Expression & Art] Kabuki Dance: Wakatsuki Sennosuke (as Susanoo) Contemporary Dance: Maeda Niina (as Amaterasu) Rope Art (Kinbaku): Bakuka (as Ame-no-Uzume) ■ STORY: The Myth of "Ama-no-Iwato" (The Heavenly Rock Cave) In ancient Japanese mythology, the universe is inhabited by Yaoyorozu-no-Kami—eight million gods who reside in every element of nature. At the pinnacle of this pantheon is Amaterasu, the Goddess of the Sun, who illuminates the world and brings life to all things. However, driven to despair by the violent, destructive rampages of her brother Susanoo, the God of Storms and the Sea, Amaterasu seals herself away inside a massive rock cave known as Ama-no-Iwato. With the sun hidden, the world is instantly plunged into eternal night. A profound darkness blankets the earth, unleashing an era of unseen chaos, fear, and calamity. Desperate to restore the light, the myriad gods gather in the darkness outside the sealed cave. Guided by ancient wisdom, they realize that sorrow and mourning will not bring back the sun. Instead, they ignite a divine, ecstatic festival. Through thunderous rhythms, primal music, and frenzied dancing, they create a vortex of pure, euphoric energy—a sacred rave to lure the light back into the world. ■ Notes - All ages welcome (daytime event). - The venue will be kept extremely dark, with heavy bass and strong lighting effects, including flashes. - Photos and videos are welcome, but please do not use flash.
