BIRTHDAY TING RETURNS Once a year, we come together to celebrate the music we love, the scene we’re part of, and the simple blessing of being able to do what we love. What started as a niche sound rumbling through soundsystems in different corners of England eventually found its way to Malaysian shores. Dubstep, 140, bass music — call it what you want. For us, it’s always been more than a sound. It’s a way of life. For our third birthday, we’re blessed to have the boys from Deep Tempo and Somebodyyyy of OneFortyAsia bringing their selections to the Langkawi Dub Club Soundsystem at Studio Fono — a space that has been championing subculture for over a decade. We’ll ease into the night with some dub reggae from Sebenar FM before things get heavier with our residents JonyMaddkidz and Runaaki. FONO boss man uzairsawal will then take the reins and bring us home after our guests have had their say. If you know the space, you know it’s a tight one. Space will be limited, so come early, leave the chit-chat for another time, and get ready for a proper night of skanking on 6 November.
