This event will take place in EartH Theatre. Holy Tongue began as a studio collaboration between percussionist Valentina Magaletti and producer Al Wootton. With three critically acclaimed EPs behind them they have transitioned into a live trio with the addition of Susumu Mukai. Their high energy live sets invoke the experimental dub of On-U-Sound, the frenetic rhythms of 23 Skidoo, Liquid Liquid and ESG. Psychedelic, free-form, high energy, spiritual dub-dance music. Their debut album is due for release spring 2023 on Amidah Records. Dub techniques meet ritual percussion, hypnotic pulse and vast Popol Vuh-esque landscapes. Drawing equally from popular music, experimental traditions and spontaneous interaction, the trio treats playing, recording, editing and transformation as part of the same creative act. Sounds emerge, dissolve and reappear in new forms, creating a music that is both deeply physical and endlessly open.
