Mars Built invites you to Soul Craft—an interactive workshop designed to bridge tactile craftsmanship with personal clarity. In an overstimulated, screen-dominated world, our hands rarely interact with raw material in a meaningful way. Drawing inspiration from traditional Scandinavian Sloyd (slöjd)—an educational philosophy centered on building character, patience, and focus through handcraft—this experience uses woodworking as a mirror for self-discovery. What You’ll Experience Using traditional hand carving tools and kiln-dried softwoods (Redwood, Deodar Cedar, Douglas Fir, and Pine), you will transform a raw wooden block into an intimate pocket totem—a faceted comfort object or ergonomic hand piece designed to fit the exact contours of your grip. Throughout the afternoon, physical technique is paired directly with guided journaling and reflection time No prior woodworking experience is required. All tools, materials, and safety gear are provided. Ages 13+ (Participants ages 13–17 must be accompanied by a ticketed adult)
