Endzeit, Recombinant and Gray Area present two sonic seminars with Neel, Endzeit's artist-in-residence: evenings to explore the process behind electronic music composition, accessible to everyone. These are not technical classes. Each session is a lecture on ideas and aesthetic methods, illustrated with material from Neel's own Ableton sessions, followed by an open Q&A and a live ambient performance. The subject is listening itself: how a producer hears, selects and shapes sound. No prior experience is required. I. Sound as Origin · Thursday, 12 November Why are certain sounds interesting, and where do they come from: found sources, reused material, and processing that draws out what a recording already holds. A case for working with as little as possible, and for treating limitation as method rather than constraint. II. Sound as Shape · Tuesday, 17 November How sound becomes composition. Treatment, mixing and mastering considered as aesthetic decisions rather than procedure: what holds a mix together, what mastering is for, and how the ear is trained. 7–10pm. Entry: free; suggested donation $0–15. NOTAFLOF. ____________________________________________________________ Neel (Giuseppe Tillieci) is an Italian producer, live performer and mastering engineer whose work spans rhythm and texture, from techno to ambient and synthwork. Few artists have shaped the sound of contemporary electronics so directly: through Enisslab, the mixing and mastering studio he founded, he has mastered more than 400 techno albums (and counting). With Donato Dozzy he forms Voices From The Lake, one of electronic music's most influential projects, which last year returned with its long-awaited second album, II. In 2016 the two founded the label Spazio Disponibile. Neel's own records appear on Token, Prologue, Non Series, Spectrum Spools, Konstrukt and Substrato. Improvisation sits at the centre of his practice: he has played multi-hour hardware jams with Mike Parker, .VRIL, Kerrie and Sebastian Mullaert, and has spoken on collaboration and improvisation at ADE with Ableton. As Endzeit's artist-in-residence, he has performed for the collective in San Francisco, New York, Detroit and Rome; his foundational Movimento EP debuted at Endzeit in 2024. RMNA is a Bay Area multimedia artist, sonic and visual hacker, and Endzeit resident. Performing primarily on Elektron hardware and modular synthesizers, she covers ambient, hypnotic, minimal and industrial, extending work into video art and DIY electronics. Formed in the Bay Area's queer underground, she has played for Endzeit and Parameter in San Francisco, Detroit and Berlin, and presented a live ambient performance at Endzeit's San Francisco Art Week closing in 2026.
