As part of the Soma 35 celebrations Slam have been involved in some stellar music projects, shining a light on some of the label's classic archive, curating many remixers as well as contributing remixes themselves. It is fitting that Edit Select makes his first Glasgow appearance for several years with Slam at their RTM residency, which continues to promote and personify raw, cutting-edge, real techno. In his former life as Percy X, Tony Scott was a regular contributor to Soma, helping to build the foundations of one of the most important independent labels in electronic music. AKA Edit Select, Tony has been producing electronic music since the early nineties under various pseudonyms. He established the Edit Select project, as well as its eponymous label, in 2007, focusing on atmospheric yet stripped-down, back-to-basics techno tracks for club use. Several 12”s appeared, including releases on labels like Ostgut Ton and Figure, as well as remixes for the likes of Speedy J, Chris Liebing, and VCMG. Edit Select’s debut full-length, Phlox, was released on the German label Prologue in 2014. During the same year, the artist released an edit of Teste’s classic 1992 track “The Wipe.” Collaborations with Dino Sabatini and Mike Parker followed, alongside singles on CLR, Dreiklang, and Semantica. In 2016, Edit Select and Antonio Ruscito released the deep, spacy collaborative LP Visitors – Projections. The following year, Edit Select’s The Bridge EP was released by Soma, which had previously been home to much of Scott’s earlier work under the name Percy X, including three full-lengths and nearly two dozen singles. In 2018, following the Horizon EP, Soma released the full-length Cyclical Undulations, widely regarded as the most expansive and accomplished work by Edit Select. From October 2019 to the present day, Tony has focused exclusively on the Edit Select record label, introducing new talent and helping emerging artists achieve their goals with his experience and guidance. With DJ residencies in Berlin and Amsterdam, along with bookings across the globe, Tony remains an in-demand DJ, consistently bringing his expertise and passion to the forefront of the electronic music scene.
