For the October edition of SAVANNA, we welcome MINOWA GENTA of GLOCAL RECORDS and SHOCHANG, whose selections explore the diverse sounds of Africa. From breakbeats, techno and house to West African music, this will be a night of music crossing borders, genres and generations. Food will be provided by yumiache, featuring duck taco rice and duck snacks. Come enjoy a relaxed night of music, food and good company at Cafein in Asagaya. --- MINOWA GENTA (GLOCAL RECORDS / 三輪社) In May 2011, MINOWA GENTA opened GLOCAL RECORDS in Harajuku, Tokyo. With a focus on breakbeats, techno, and house, he selects used records from a distinctive perspective, crossing boundaries between genres including reggae, world music, and jazz. Moving freely between musical roots and the contemporary scene, he continues his activities as a DJ, record shop owner, and label operator. In February 2026, he opened “れこーど三輪社 (Record Sanrinshya)” in Shimoigusa, Suginami, Tokyo. --- SHOCHANG Born and raised in Tokyo, SHOCHANG began his musical journey with punk and hardcore before moving through ska and rocksteady, eventually becoming deeply fascinated by West African highlife. His selections range freely across a wide spectrum of African music, from beguine, compas, gwo ka, and tsumbélé to juju, apala, Afrobeat, and contemporary Afrobeats. He is also a production director at DIW, the production division of Disk Union, and occasionally works as a writer. Based in Tokyo, he continues to share and promote the music he discovers at his own pace, wherever he goes. --- yumiache yumiache discovered the deliciousness of duck while enjoying the cherry blossoms along the Kanda River. Since 2017, they have been exploring the possibilities of duck cuisine, primarily using low-temperature sous-vide cooking and seasonal ingredients. From snacks and sandwiches to rice bowls, yumiache is constantly dreaming up new ways to share the appeal of duck with others. In short, a passionate food lover with an endless appetite for culinary ideas.
