SCHACKE AT ABY’SS SHANGHAI On 18 September 2026, Schacke arrives at Aby’ss Shanghai, bringing one of the defining figures of Copenhagen’s fast techno movement into direct contact with China’s underground electronic music scene. Artist, DJ, producer and label founder Schacke has spent more than a decade moving between the outer edges of punk, black metal, noise, industrial music, techno and trance. Half Danish and half South Korean, Schacke began making music in their teens, initially playing drums and working through metal, noise and industrial projects before moving deeper into electronic music. After relocating to Copenhagen in 2013, they became embedded in the city’s underground, co-running the experimental venue Mayhem and developing a DIY label dedicated to noise and industrial music. In 2015, Schacke became one of the founding members of Fast Forward. What began as a self-organized Copenhagen party grew into one of the movements responsible for reshaping the international perception of the city’s electronic music. Fast, emotional and deliberately unconstrained, the sound surrounding Fast Forward helped establish what became internationally recognized as the Copenhagen techno sound. Schacke became one of its defining artists. Their productions combine speed and physical intensity with melody, trance, industrial pressure and an emotional sensibility rarely associated with harder techno. Releases have appeared across influential labels including Kulør, Mama Told Ya, KAOS, Instruments of Discipline and Intrepid Skin, while Schacke later founded Sacred Interface as a platform for techno, trance and artists from their surrounding community. In 2019, that trajectory reached a defining moment with “Kisloty People.” Released as part of the Kisloty Forever EP and inspired by the underground St. Petersburg club Kisloty, the track transformed fragments of Russian pop into euphoric fast techno and became one of the defining rave records of its period. Resident Advisor selected “Kisloty People” as its number one track of 2019 and subsequently invited Schacke for an RA Podcast. But Schacke’s importance extends beyond a single record. Their career represents a wider underground philosophy built through DIY spaces, independent labels, queer club culture and music that refuses conventional genre boundaries. Resident Advisor dedicated an RA Exchange to Schacke’s relationship with the Copenhagen techno sound, extreme art, eroticism, noise and black metal, while their international trajectory has connected them with dance floors including Berghain, RSO.Berlin, Bassiani, Basement New York and Copenhagen’s Den Anden Side. SCHACKE IN SHANGHAI Schacke’s arrival at Aby’ss continues a direct connection between Shanghai and one of Europe’s most influential contemporary underground movements. Only days before the Shanghai appearance, Schacke played VENT Tokyo, bringing the same tour through two major East Asian cities and placing Aby’ss within a wider exchange between European and Asian underground electronic music communities. That exchange is central to the identity Aby’ss has developed in Shanghai. Since 2021, the club has built an independent program around techno, hard techno, hardcore, industrial electronics, experimental club music and high-BPM rave while connecting international artists with Chinese DJs, producers, promoters and resident culture. But Schacke represents something particularly relevant to that history. Fast Forward did not become important simply by booking established artists. It developed its own community, artists, parties and sound from inside Copenhagen. Aby’ss has followed a similarly independent principle in Shanghai, developing resident artists and its own club-created projects alongside international programming. C.U.M, BLOODBATH and ABIBAS each represent different branches of that resident culture, moving between hardcore, techno, industrial music, performance, fashion and alternative subcultures. The meeting of Schacke and Aby’ss therefore connects two underground ecosystems shaped by the same fundamental idea: club culture becomes meaningful when a community creates its own identity rather than reproducing somebody else’s.
