MUSIC + FOOD + MEMORY + ARCHIVES ​DEEP CUTS is a one-night gathering celebrating NEW WAVE documentary arriving on The Criterion Channel with DJs, archival film, live storytelling, food, zines, artists + community along the L.A. River. ​At the center of the night is a live immersive listening session created by filmmaker Elizabeth Ai and journalist Samanta Helou Hernandez. ​Elizabeth shares a personal, six-chapter story about growing up in the ’90s in the SGV through music, archival photos, memory, conversation + taste. ​It’s an experiment in multisensory storytelling, inviting everyone in the room to listen, taste, remember, and bring their own associations to the story. ​Join us at THE RIVER LA, an outdoor venue along the L.A. Each course responds to a different chapter through flavor, memory, place, and time. The food works like another soundtrack, a sensory way into memory. ​The tasting is only available with a Tasting Ticket and must be reserved in advance.
