For his third residency night of the year, SPRKLBB is inviting NYC icon Nita Aviance. For those who don't know, Nita and The Carry Nation are a veritable institution in the NYC queer nightlife landscape. Nita and SPRKLBB have shared a long friendship and history in NYC club culture, and this will be the first time they have shared the DJ booth. The energy will be potent and ecstatic for this one folks. See you on the dance floor! Some words from SPRKLBB about the night: For my next residency night I’m thrilled to invite one of my closest friends and mentors, my mother Nita Aviance. For over a decade she has worked hand in hand with Will Automagic as The Carry Nation to throw some of New York’s most iconic parties. These seminal functions have platformed a new generation of queer artists and entertainers in NYC, and were crucial to the foundation of NYC’s current nightlife renaissance. Nita’s New York journey has been decades in the making, and she wields this experience with a seemingly effortless grasp on any room. She understands that music creates energy, and her gift is the ability to share and frame music in ways that are personal and complex. Nita plays from a place that gives the dancefloor meaning, immediacy, and presence. I’ve had the great fortune to learn from her over the years–a mentorship that has helped me to see the intrinsic link between personal healing and artistic growth. This will be our first time sharing the booth together, and I’m excited to share this moment on the dance floor at Process. More about Nita Aviance: Nita Aviance has been shaping New York nightlife since the late 1990s. She joined the House of Aviance as a dancer and drag artist, taking the house's name in keeping with ballroom tradition, and has since become one of the city's most enduring selectors — a trained percussionist and jazz singer whose sets draw on house, ballroom, and underground club music in equal measure. In 2003 she began working with Will Automagic as The Carry Nation, a partnership that landed a deal with London's Batty Bass and produced remixes for Beyoncé, Scissor Sisters, and Le1f. She founded the Downtown DJ Coalition and co-created Tubway, named best party by Paper Magazine in 2008, and is a four-time Glammy Award winner for Best DJ. She's a regular at Good Room, Nowadays, H0L0, and Le Bain.
