Dr. NISHIMURA (悪魔の沼) DJ / レコードバイヤー。長年に渡りBarong、Cisco Records、Jet Set、Lighthouse Recordsといったレコードショップのバイヤーを歴任し、そのキャリアを通して培われ続けている豊富な音楽知識こそが、彼がDr.なる敬称を与えられた由縁であり、その豊富な経験と知見に裏付けられたプレイは共演した数々の内外アーティスト達から賞賛を浴びている。 Chee Shimizu、Jonny Nash、Zecky と共に結成したユニットDISCOSSESSIONとしては、日本でいち早くイタロ、コズミックといった欧州深奥部のディスコを再定義したサウンドを展開、バレアリック再考に先鞭を付け、世界的に注目を浴びる。 現在はCOMPUMA、AWANOと結成したユニット「悪魔の沼」(トビー・フーパーの映画”Eaten Alive” の邦題から)での活動と並行して、ソロにおいてはスローなBPMを軸に多彩なポリリズムを導入した高密度なグルーヴを創り出し、オルタナティヴなテクノの新たな地平を提示している。 -- DJ and record buyer Dr. Nishimura has built an extensive knowledge of music throughout his career, having worked as a buyer for renowned record stores including Barong, Cisco Records, Jet Set, and Lighthouse Records. This depth of knowledge and experience is what earned him the title of “Dr.” His sets, informed by years of exploration and expertise, have been widely praised by artists from Japan and abroad. As a member of DISCOSSESSION, the unit he formed with Chee Shimizu, Jonny Nash, and Zecky, he was among the pioneers in Japan to reinterpret the deeper reaches of European disco, including Italo and Cosmic sounds. The project helped pave the way for a renewed appreciation of Balearic music, attracting international attention. He is currently active as part of AKUMA NO NUMA, a unit formed with COMPUMA and AWANO and named after the Japanese title of Tobe Hooper’s film Eaten Alive.
