Introducing our October installment at Hardwire! Deepa is a dancefloor favourite for her ability to connect genres with a signature warmth and flirtiness, exchanging energies with audiences through instinct-driven sets. With foundations in disco, house and funk, her sound has evolved into something deeper, punchier, and more urgent– weaving together chugging percussion, global funk, electro, psychedelic textures, trap and invigorating bass-heavy grooves. An elegant yet cheeky selector, Deepa plays with an improvisational instinct shaped by years of reading rooms and responding in real time. Her taste for all things naturalistic and clubby finds her unifying genres and reshaping crowd expectations with a joyous, mischievous charm. Her sets unfold through a slow burn of tension and release–part storytelling, part physical surrender. Playing with dichotomies of density and intensity, her craft looks outside of pure club, house and techno, creating a hot’n’heavy dancefloor pastiche that feels sweaty and euphoric. She follows momentum, anticipating the rhythmic needs of a dancefloor before pushing the room to the edge and back. Her ability to align with the energy of an audience and reflect their rhythmic needs has taken Deepa to the stages of Panorama Bar two summers in a row, Pitch Music & Arts Festival, Strawberry Fields Festival, Subsonic Festival and Splendour In The Grass. This instinct has also caught the attention of international acts including Honey Dijon, Four Tet, Ahadadream, Jamz Supernova, Bradley Zero, Boris, The Illustrious Blacks and Hagan during their tours in Aus. Arsonist and Loaf will be supporting Deepa. Both local talents that we trust will bring their eclectic taste and careful track selection to open and close the night.
