Sheffield-based artist R Loomes, also of Sister Wives, carves a darker path through the modern folk revival, her sound a haunting convergence of folk melodies, doom-laced undertones, and ethereal grunge. Reminiscent of artists like Emma Ruth Rundle, Jeff Buckley and early PJ Harvey, R Loomes possesses a beautifully singular voice that is set to take up a whole new space. As a member of Delicious Clam and Sheffield’s thriving DIY scene since 2018, RLoomes has built a devout and growing following, releasing two EPs Anomie and Moonsong at Morning and creating live shows that are an immersive, meditative and quietly powerful experience. Her long awaited debut album Another Sip of the Divine Specific is due out on 30th September. In recent years R Loomes has participated in the PRS Foundation Talent Development Programme and supported Ora Cogan, Group Listening, The New Eves, Jim Ghedi and Michael Chapman. Her music has been frequently played on BBC Introducing, her latest single Track of the Week, and Sheffield Live radio. Praise for R Loomes: “\[Passerine is\] just a devastatingly beautiful track, what a voice...” \- Emily Pilbeam, BBC Introducing “Haunting vocals and elegant guitar... hypnotic and mesmerising” \- The Razors Edge “Deceptively lo-fi guitar doom folk from one of Sheffield’s best-kept secrets" \- Now Then Magazine
