Better Tomorrow, Los Angeles

Beacon of Light takes over Better Tomorrow Studio on November 21st for its biggest activation yet. From 10pm until 6am, the space will be transformed into a late night chill out room inspired by the spaces that once existed alongside the main rooms of raves and clubs. Places where the music could stretch out, DJs could follow unexpected ideas, and people could sit, lie down, sway, dance, talk, listen and stay for a while. The room will be covered in rugs, with plenty of space to settle in and move around throughout the night. Brian Zamora and Allen Harsted will take over the lighting with a full room activation that will shift and evolve as the night unfolds. The lineup feels especially connected to the spirit of Beacon of Light. Jonah Sharp, the artist behind Spacetime Continuum, joins for a DJ set. Jonah was there when chill out culture was first taking shape, from the original Spacetime parties in early 90s London to decades spent exploring the outer edges of electronic music in San Francisco. His work has always moved freely between the dance floor and the spaces around it. Lovefingers has spent years building a musical world around curiosity, discovery and deep digging. What began with lovefingers.org eventually grew into ESP Institute, a label defined less by a particular genre than by a distinct point of view. His sets follow the same instinct, moving through unexpected records and unlikely connections without needing to stay inside one lane. Felix The Dog has been part of San Francisco’s underground since the 90s, including the Black Diamond and Eklektic parties. His history is rooted in rooms where different sounds, scenes and people could coexist, and in an approach to DJing that has always valued musical freedom over genre boundaries. Resident Master Chillers Tottie and Dor Wand will be holding down the Beacon of Light side, bringing the kind of loose, curious selections that have shaped the project from the beginning. Thanks to a generous donation, a collection of rugs will cover the main chill out area for the night. Shoes off is encouraged once you settle in, both for the full experience and so the rugs can continue to travel with Beacon of Light to future gatherings. Shoe covers will also be available for anyone who prefers to keep their shoes on. This is the biggest Beacon of Light activation so far, and the closest the project has come to giving the chill out room an entire night of its own. Come early, stay late, lie down for a while, get back up and dance, hear something unexpected and see where the night goes. Space is limited, so getting your ticket sooner rather than later is recommended.
