This is our last gig in this iconic venue before it closes for redevelopment. We are going out in style with our deadliest line-up yet. Line-Up Ancient Methods Arrok (Live) Belacqua (Live) Ponyting Ancient Methods Ancient Methods, the founder of the Persephonic Sirens Label, has cemented his status as a steadfast presence within the electronic music sphere for nearly two decades. His venture embodies an unyielding and resolute passion for otherworldly, multifaceted music, underpinned by his distinctive "pitch black techno war funk.“ The project emblem, the fall of Jericho, is more than a symbol; it represents Ancient Methods’ firm conviction that innovation arises from breaking down barriers. This approach is perhaps most apparent in his kaleidoscopic DJ mixes, which use techno as a mere transmitter to celebrate the wide spectrum of musical diversity. This take is also evident in his numerous remixes, including those for Yello, The Soft Moon, Wishmountain, or Die Wilde Jagd: Industrialized beats embrace synth-pop, dark wave melodies, trans-traditional kraut- and experimental folk elements. Similarly, his collaborative endeavors with Regis, Orphx, and Cindytalk seamlessly navigate across diverse auditory realms while preserving his defining musical imprint. His versatility is also evident in his performances, which range from Berlin's local venues such as Berghain, RSO, and Tresor to global festivals the likes of ADE, Atonal, Dekmantel over Maschinenfest, and WGT all the way to Monegros and culminating in his residency at the hallowed Khidi Club. In seeming contradictions, Ancient Methods embodies a sonic journey that touches the soul with mechanical music and stands as a perpetual force of nonconformist renewal, unconcerned with fleeting fashions. Arrok Between arrow and stone lies ARROK, a project built on the marriage of strict music theory, and the calculated, chaotic friction of real world noise, stamped with ARROK’S own vocals interwoven throughout sinuous, dark beats. Born from a need to develop his own intricate structures, ARROK steps out of years of creation for his debut. ARROK’s tracks reject standard presets, instead using personal, hand-carved field recordings, including the layering of the brutally extricated sound of dentist tools to a self-made drum set of found plastic, changing the depth and tone of sound to one that is palpably his own. It was this desire to weave himself in the marrow of his work that led ARROK to use his own recorded vocals. It pounds over raw analogue textures, and makes way for delicate cosmic space-synth atmospherics, giving space to his moments of open vocals to come searing through. Belacqua Recently described as "the most topless man in Bristol", Belacqua is the production alias of Dion Doherty. With a decades long tradition of toplessness on dancefloors hither and yon, some of the more betopped activities he engages in include wrangling the program for Open Ear & making a wide variety of plunderphonic, microsampled tunes using his trusty MPC and a variety of outboard gear. Having brought AM to Galway for his 30th b'day [X] years ago, he is currently beavering away in the studio cooking up brand new shlo-mo bangers for this set. Justin Bierber's Swag has reportedly been a rich source of material recently. Having had quite the purple patch a few years ago with releases on Piss 'N' Perfume, wherethetimegoes and Apartment records, his output has been scant recently. However, having signed off the last few of these bios running by saying that he will have a surfeit of new releases by year's end, this time he says it more in expectation than hope (he swears) Poynting Poynting is a DJ and community radio volunteer with ddr., where he hosts the monthly show Radio Frequency Interference (RFI). His selections traverse electro, EBM, electroclash and techno. Alongside his radio work, he has helped facilitate community initiatives including ddr.'s Pride special Queering the Airwaves.
