The band formed in the mid-2000s and initially built a strong underground following within the UK deathcore scene through their early independent albums, Humanity (2009) and Empire (2010). They expanded their sound into a more groove-driven metal style with their 2013 breakthrough album, Uprising. Following a brief hiatus and the addition of guitarist/vocalist Steven Jones, they experienced a massive creative resurgence. Signing to Nuclear Blast Records, they achieved widespread international acclaim with their albums Era (2018), Fracture (2020), and Shrine (2022), establishing themselves as one of the UK's leading modern heavy metal acts.
