what’s your favorite sexy movie? for the past year i’ve been invigorated by the time capsule known as the erotic thriller. started in the 80s, perfected in the 90s and have never been made the same since. my debut album, SPADER, incorporates samples from some of my favorites throughout all 9 tracks. 9 films. 9 stories. and named after the actor who’s career reignited my love of the genre. i think i’ve finally bottled that feeling i get watching the extreme duality play out on screen into my personal auditory expression. obsession, voyeurism, paranoia, lust, desire, playfulness, anxiety, urgency, panic and vulnerability are all there. i’m thrilled to finally share this project with you as it’s the most personal form of art i’ve made yet. movies have always been a big part of my life and i’m so grateful to have gotten to write a love letter to one of my favorite genres. the release party will be at oakland’s sexiest bar there/there with sets from me and my collaborators on this album: bored lord, finishher and dj juanny.
