The Advent is a pioneer, sound designer, steady force, rebel, and formidable live artist. His journey began in the late 80s as a sound engineer at Jack Trax, before becoming an early inventor of the Live PA format. Formed in 1993, The Advent was originally a duo of Cisco Ferreira and Colin McBean, known for their classic debut album, Elements of Life, and a series of singles; since 1999, Ferreira has continued as a solo act. The Advent has developed a signature sound built on raw energy, powerful machines, and uncompromising techno, with dozens of releases, while also running his own Kombination Research. On 23 October at Bassiani, The Advent is joined by enigmatic HVL, 11th member Cypher, and Londoner Josey Rebelle, an Open Ground resident known for powerful, emotionally resonant sets that fuse techno, gnarly analogue beats, and heavyweight bass with depth and precision. Raised in a Caribbean culture of dancers, DJs, and sound system operators, her musical identity was forged by Warp bleep classics and hardcore and jungle records. British producer Samuel Kerridge performs live. Standing alone at the intersection of rhythm and noise with his signature sonic arsenal, Kerridge has been carefully turning techno inside-out for over a decade. With a distinctly post-punk approach to the genre, he has become an integral part of Regis’ legendary imprint Downwards and helped define the label’s contemporary sound: broken techno and snarling punk, informed by industrial music and metal. Beyond his solo work and a three-year stint curating Berlin Atonal, he collaborates with OAKE in the power metal techno duo UF and started his own guitar band, Death Disco. Dito returns to Horoom alongside MESH, emerging from the underground movements of Kutaisi in western Georgia, whose sound moves through dub techno, tech house, minimal and breaks with a sharp focus on percussion, texture and detail; Vakho, co-founder of Vodkast and core member of 4GB; and Ulf Eriksson, mastermind behind Sweden’s influential Kontra-Musik label, resident DJ at Waking Life, artistic director at Inkonst, and chief curator of Intonal, a prestigious experimental music festival.
