WeSA X ELEKTRA 'AI-SCAPE' How Is AI Transforming Art? Artists from Korea and Canada come together to present a new artistic landscape shaped by encounters with AI. Presented jointly by WeSA and ELEKTRA, AI-SCAPE brings together Korean and Canadian artists working across generative AI, machine learning, live coding, sound and audiovisual performance. The festival explores new artistic possibilities emerging from collaboration between humans and AI. Canada is home to a globally renowned AI research ecosystem and a thriving digital arts scene. Montreal, in particular, is a city where AI research and media art actively intersect. For over 25 years, ELEKTRA has explored new connections between art and technology, establishing itself as a leading international platform for digital art. The festival features performances and collaborative projects by 12 artists from Korea and Canada. Audiences will experience algorithms composing music, AI generating images and sounds, and humans and machines operating together as creative agents. The programme also includes workshops led by Canadian artists. Through sessions covering AI-based audiovisual production, generative sound, live coding and more, participants can gain hands-on experience with contemporary creative methodologies and explore artistic possibilities connected to the performances. The workshop is led by Dominique Thibault, Vivian Li, and David Piazza and will be conducted in English. [WeSA Workshop #034 Open-Source Tools for AI-Assisted Music] 09.06 16:30 - 18:30 | WeSA Academy (2F, 2, Tojeong-ro 9-gil, Mapo-gu, Seoul) This lecture and demonstration-based workshop explores open-source AI tools that allow musicians to maintain creative control while incorporating AI into their own creative processes. Led by Philippe Pasquier of the Metacreation Lab for Creative AI, the workshop introduces various tools and research developed over the past two decades, exploring how AI can be used in music creation, from MIDI composition to audio generation. Through demonstrations of tools such as MIDI-GPT, GigaMIDI, Audio Metaphor, and Fragmenta, participants will discover how these tools are designed and used in creative practice, while also exploring alternative approaches to large-scale, corporate AI, including Small Data, Model Crafting, and Model Personalization. The workshop will be conducted in English.
