Her father was in and out of the hospital in Toronto while she lived in Mexico City, flying back and forth between the two cities as a relationship quietly ended. Underneath it all sat a homesickness that made no sense, since Mexico City had felt like home since she moved there in 2018. Mexican-Canadian, with a mother from Mexico City and a father from Saltillo, the ache wasn’t for Toronto. It was for a version of herself she’d left behind that year. After leading Magneta Lane and LOLAA, Lexi steps out as a solo artist for the first time, a decision born less out of plan than out of collapse. She’d quit music after the pandemic and meant it. What she hadn’t planned for was where the darker parts of herself would go once there was nowhere left to put them. Lo Claroscuro is what happens when she let them back in. Lexi will be joined by SeaDaisy, the vision of Toronto musician Caitlin Dacey. A fuzz-soaked collision of garage grit, grunge intensity, and classic-rock melody, SeaDaisy was built from the ground up around her songwriting and voice. For the live incarnation, Dacey called in a crew of fellow Toronto musicians pulled from her past bands: Ryan Gassi on drums (Public Animal), Jeff Dowdall on lead guitar (Hot Wax Meltdown), and Scott Hannigan on bass (Bella Clava).
