Altered Soul is a gathering where visuals, sound, body and emotion all combine to become one experience . It’s a space to dance exactly as you need to without harassment, or bigotry. The crates are deep, the speakers are powerful, the installation and its real time digital art are transcendent. The artists involved are legend and ZAP! resident Scott W, techno sorcerer and community favourite DJ Hockey, and Altered Soul residents clara & 2flowers. They all bring an inspiring passion and unique creative perspective to their craft. This is a smaller lineup than previous editions, so all the DJ sets can be longer . Playing longer sets helps us create a journey, follow the unexpected directions that appear, take risks. clara will be in the booth side by side with the DJs, able to hear the record coming next. Sound and visuals are in the mix together and can altar each other’s meaning. This party is thrown by Black and Trans hosts. Part of why these types of events connect with us is that we feel both the struggle and beauty of our experience in the music, and we know our culture is in the origins. We have to express our gratitude to the originators, our elders and their communities. Their creativity, audacity, and sacrifice have allowed for these events to exist. Thank you. The secret location will be shared with ticket holders on the day of the event. We will have places to sit and relax or chat (the dancefloor is for dancing), free water, and other harm reduction resources. Taking photos, videos, and constantly scrolling isn’t the best way to experience Altered Soul. Our medium is the moment, and you get the most out of this party if you let yourself be in it. Come rested and fed and hydrated. Wear hearing protection, take breaks when you need to. There’s no right way to dance, it’s your body, let yourself move how you move. You are invited to be your total self.
